well.. its not actually the herbs that heal... Us and our animals don't get sick because we are lacking a herb, or some type of compound found in the herb- We get sick because our inner nature has been disturbed. lets go a little deeper: Plants are expressions of what is known as Morphic Resonance Morphic Resonance is a term coined by a wonderful mind, Rupert Sheldrake (I highly recommend checking out his website or YouTube channel for some of his talks around this. he is, amongst other things, a plant physiologist). But first...

A very very basic descpription of what Sheldrake describes as morphic Ressonance is that it is the memory of nature, and how every species has a collective memory which it draws upon, and adds too.

It is the influence of Like though Like through Space and Time, using Morphic Fields,

Morphic Feilds carry the morphic resonance.

It is the basis of self organising systems, which underly the activity of nature.

So this is what is believed to be the energy which creates the seasons and cycles in nature.

This morphic resonance is what Organises energy and nature.

And ...as I said it covers space, and time

Plants...as they are part of nature, pick up this resonance, which in turn, helps it to self organise, and reflect this resonance outwardly. And we see this through a plants shape, size, colour, structure, taste, smell and the environment were they thrive. So ultimately us and our animals, and in fact all of nature is intrinsically connected through morphic feilds. This effects the way plants grow, and in turn, the way the plant resonates with us and our animals, when we use them in a self selection or herbal medicine setting.

So coming back to the title ... how exactly DO plants heal us? Well they don't heal us in the way that a tablet stops a symptom. it is not a reductionist way like allopathic medicine. A herb may have XYZ properties and compounds which have certain effects... yes. But thats not how it HEALS us or our animals. Truly, Plants embue us with the resonance we are lacking within, and return us to our inner nature. a single herb heals on many layers of our and our animals being a single herb, chosen by a true holistic herbalist, can spark a cascade of syncronistic happenings within as well as outside of the body. a single herb, holds the wisdom of its archetype, and ripples this out through all of its being.

...And this is where fresh herbs, dried herbs, essential oils, resins or hydrosols have differentiating energetics and will resonate on different levels of the physical being or the psychological body. even though it is the same herb Also when we prepare herbs if different ways, this extracts the properties and energetics differently again, coming into resonance with the different aspects of us or our animals being. So herbs heal through this resonance. Not because they have one compound or another, but because they are perfect combinations of energetic archetypes, which are communicating with that essence within us or our animals, which is out of balance with that resonance. It is more like a deep recalibration of the parts of us or our animals, which have lost connection with a cycle of nature. Herbs can return us to this. If understood and used holistically, in connection with the seasons. So, wether you are looking to work with plants and animals, plants and people, or connect to plants yourself. it is crucial to understand that they are part of a greater whole, just because the books say that such and such a herb has a certain property, doesn't mean that it will heal that within a person or an animal. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Seeking to understand the resonance and nature within and around us in a holistic way, is where true healing and health can be found. In my next blog, Ill bring in the elements and how the resonance of these are felt within us and our animals. subscribe to be the first to dive into that. All my love and blessings
